The Farm
We are a small operation and working towards our dream of a magical and unique farm. Organic gardens, butterfly gardens, livestock, and walking trails. We invite you in to explore the property and take advantage of the privacy and peace that it offers.
“Ingleside Farm was a dream of ours that we hadn’t fully realized until we saw it.”
Having met in Washington, D.C., Zack and Mary Anne were accustomed to city living — however, they shared a passion for outdoor oases. They constantly searched for the quiet in nature, whether through weekend trips to Shenandoah to hike and camp, or simply finding the green spaces within the city’s limits. Along with that passion developed another: a passion for curating a little oasis surrounded by natural beauty to share with others — one that embraces the darkness of night, the quiet of the country, and the charm of history. They believe that at Ingleside Farm, you can escape the adrenaline of the city and replace it with enough calm to feel a reset in your body.
On a trip out to Ingleside Farm, you may find Zack and Mary Anne tending to their organic gardens around the property — gardens filled with flowers that attract butterflies, bees, and other delightful creatures that help the ecosystem thrive. In fact, this very ideal sparked the dream of farm living in the first place: the simple pleasure of growing organic produce from seed.
“So much of what we do and how we operate Ingleside Farm comes from a desire for simplicity — through scaled-back and non-toxic living. This even extends to the small details, such as how we clean the cottage and wash the linens for our guests. Organic wherever possible, and always non-toxic products.”
Zack and Mary Anne have big dreams for the farm and are thoughtfully working toward keeping farm animals. “Cows are on the horizon!” They are grateful to the many guests who have stayed at Ingleside Farm and have played a part in making it a true destination.

The Property
The farm follows a wooded creek through the Piedmont hills. As you explore the property, you’ll find a path that leads down to the water. It’s a steep descent, however the creekside is a big part of the experience. It is incredibly peaceful and an opportunity for connection or solo meditation. You’ll most likely see and hear cows grazing on the opposite creekbed.
Marshall is in the middle of Fauquier County — horse country, wine country. An hour from D.C. but it feels further than that. It’s quiet and very dark at night. We still find ourselves in awe of the sky full of visible stars at night.

Throughout the Year
Spring
Green begins to peek through the dirt once again, dogwoods bloom, cool mornings and evenings envelop pleasant and sunny afternoons. When it's rainy, the tin roof of the cottage plays acoustics and makes indoors the place to be.
Summer
Long days are best spent by the water where the trees on the creekbed stretch across the sky and provide a cool shade. Fireflies at dusk. Nighttime is pure bliss.
Autumn
The trees along the creek go gold. The air gets sharp. Bundling up for morning walks with coffee in hand. Probably our favorite time out here.
Winter
Bare branches, the occasional snowfall, and the smell of smoke from the woodstove burning all day. Quiet gets even quieter. Making comfort meals and playing board games are among our favorite winter pastimes.
